Rav Chaim Weg Addresses Khal Zichron Pinchus Renewal Event

Rav Chaim Weg, a prominent Rav, and Dayan in Lakewood was the guest speaker on Shabbos Parshas Mishpatim at an Adopt-a-Kollel renewal Shabbos for Khal Zichron Pinchus, led by Rav Aharon Zuckerman. The kehillah has partnered with Rav Shlomo Weissman, Rosh Kollel, of Kollel Mesivta D’Rabi Akiva Be’er Simcha.

Rav Weg highlighted a remarkable innovation that the Rosh Kollel has instituted that there is much to learn from. He said, the afternoon seder is followed by mussar seder and only after mussar do the yungerleit finally go home. Rav Weisman puts out cake, coffee and drinks for the yungerleit before the mussar seder. When asked what the reason behind this innovative policy is, he explained that the yungerleit have a very demanding and strenuous schedule. A demanding and long morning seder and second seder followed by mussar. It is not healthy for a yungerman to come home tired, and famished. I want each avreich to enter his home after a long day of learning in a calm and uplifting frame of mind!”

Rabbi Shmuel Weiss, Adopt-a-Kollel coordinator for the Lakewood region addressed the shul at the special Kiddush that was given in in honor of the renewal. At the Kiddush after davening, a member of the kehillah was so deeply inspired by what Rav Weissman was doing that he came forth and pledged to sponsor an entire years’ worth of refreshments that the kollel gives.
