Rhine Family Adopts Kollel in Memory of their Father

Partnering with a kollel is a tremendous zechus and nearly 300 shuls and businesses have tapped into that zechus by joining the Adopt-a-Kollel network. Last week, the launch of an unusual partnership took place – the partnership of a family with a kollel.

The children of Rav Yehuda Leib ben Rav Avrohom Yitzchok Rhine were seeking a special zechus l’ilui nishmas their father who had devoted his life to harbotzas haTorah. What zechus, they thought, would be more appropriate than supporting a kollel in Eretz Yisroel on a monthly basis? Although one might think that supporting a kollel is only the purview of people of financial means, the Rhines have proven that to be untrue.

They chose Kollel Mayim Chaim led by Rav Simcha Rosenbaum. The kollel is a relatively small kollel and the extended family managed to get pledges for a significant amount of money per month that will immeasurably improve the kollel’s financial standing and enable the administration to pay their yungeleit on time. The Rhine family has made history as the first time that an extended family has partnered with a kollel in the Adopt-a-Kollel network.
