Rav Chaim Meir Roth, Rav of K’hal Sterling Forest of Lakewood, paid a rare visit to his kehilla’s partner kollel, Kollel K’hal Chassidim of Haifa. Rav Roth, who was in Eretz Yisroel for a personal matter, somehow managed to find the time to visit his shul’s adopted kollel this past week.
Adopt-a-Kollel’s Eretz Yisroel coordinator, Rabbi Motti Weinberger, related, “Rav Roth walked into the kollel and promptly asked the avreichim what they were learning. When he was informed they were learning the halachos of tochen, grinding on Shabbos, he immediately delivered a shiur on the subject. Rav Roth and the avreichim then engaged in a spirited back and forth about the halachos and Rav Roth was deeply impressed with their wide-ranging proficiency and depth of knowledge on the subject.
“The yungeleit were absolutely flabbergasted at the ability of the Rav to converse on any area of halacha and his engaging and ‘geshmake’ personality,” said Rabbi Weinberger.
Before he left, the yungeleit gave Rav Roth a handwritten note in beautiful poetic Hebrew prose, expressing their hakaras hatov for what he and his kehilla do for them.
