On the day after Chanukah, a Gabbai of a certain partner shul came to Reb Yankel Bernfeld and said, “Agav, I just wanted you to know that someone in our shul, sent a special Chanukah bonus of $10,800 on behalf of the yungeleit in the Kollel.”
That shul is not a large shul, and the Kollel is not a particularly large Kollel. In the course of the year, the shul sends some $15,000 per year. Nevertheless, because the partnership is strong and the members of the shul feel a true bond with the kollel, that has been the catalyst for and individual to give that the Chanukah bonus and substantial bonuses in advance of other Yomim tovim as well.
In this particular case, we happened to have heard about the extra bonus. In many cases, these bonuses are given from shul to Kollel without our knowledge.
Once there is a partnership and a bond the possibilities are endless.
