On Motzoei Shabbos Parshas Vayeira the kehillah K’hal Shaarei Tefillah of Lakewood led by Rav Michel Handelsman, held a renewal melave malka at the home of Reb Moshe Katz. The guest speaker at the event was Rav Gershon Ribner, Rosh Kollel Nesivos HaTorah and a son-in-law of Rav Shneur Kotler.
Rav Michel Handelsman, the shul’s Rav, also addressed the event, and a riveting video was shown where Rav Naftoli Kaplan, spoke about the greatness of supporting Torah even when the supporter doesn’t personally know the beneficiary of his bounty.
Rav Ribner said that just like there are various levels of Torah learning, so too, there are various levels of supporting Torah. One of the highest madreigos of support for Torah is the ideal of ‘Aron nosei es nosav – when the aron kodesh carries those who are carrying it.’ This is referring to talmidei chachomim, who themselves might also learn Torah m’toch hadechak, take it upon themselves to support other talmidei chachomim. The reason this support is so exalted is because it is rooted in the purest of sources.
The kehillah has partnered now for over five years with the Kollel of Yeshiva Nesiva Hadaas under the nesius of the famed Mashgiach, Rav Naftoli Kaplan. The Rosh Kollel is Rav Meir Livna.
